Beloved Childhood Cotton Candy

Chaya Jacobs is a 15 year old student at O’Neill CVI. She is passionate about psychology, musical theatre, drama and creative writing. In her free time she loves to read and sing. In this piece, Chaya writes about childhood revelation of her African heritage at a young age. As her mind becomes open to the struggle and discrimination of her ancestors, she learns how much hatred can be found in the past and still persist today.

Spoken Word- Aundréa Henry
"To be silent is to be complicit"

Aundréa Henry wrote this piece because she wanted to speak up. She wanted to support the Black Lives Matter movement in some way other than posting videos and signing petitions. The only way she knew how is to through spoken word.
